I want people to beware of this debt collecting attorney office. I had a hospital bill in the amount of $596.00 that was bought and turned over to this law office. I had to go to court in July and agreed to pay them $50.00 a month until it was paid off. I am a single working woman and really could not afford that amount but agreed to get them off my back. Their attorney agreed as well that this would be alright and EVERY month since I have mailed them the payment. Today I just got a notice of Garnishment in the mail from these people!!!!!!!!!!! WTH??? I am totally devastated and cannot believe that they did this behind my back, no warning, no phone calls nothing. I would like to sue these people but not sure what I can do at this point. I have read about them on the internet and they have messed over alot of people. They mainly deal with medical debt and have apparently sued alot of people in different states. Has anyone ever dealt with them and give advice? I am afraid of not being able to pay my rent/car payment or utilties because of this. I cannot understand why they did this since I have paid each month.

When you made the arrangement, was it in writing and was it done at court or did you do it to avoid court? What may have happened is they indeed did pull a fast one on you, they agreed to the arrangement, so you didn't go to court..they did and got a default judgment.

You need to check with the court and see what the status of your case is, also see if you can put an emergency stay on that garnishment order....I am sure the judge would not approve of this underhand tactic for something you were making payemnts on.

Goldenbeast, I went to court and of course they had two attorneys present representing Faber and Brand because they had about 30 cases in my town alone they were suing people for. When I went up to the bench, the judge told me it would be best to work it out with Faber and Brand and I proceeded to sit down with one of the attorneys and "work it out". We agreed that I would pay $50.00 a month. He wrote the information down on one of his business cards and told me to send the money to the Faber and Brand address each month. He stated they did not send out paperwork or anything else so I do not have a signed agreement, only the attorneys business card. I have paid Since August 2008 and now I get this garnishment notice. I called Bud Hibbs and he said I was suckered and to just go ahead and pay the balance of $496.00 (What they say the balance is) and be done with them. I am getting some money the week of the 24th to pay them off, but have no idea about this garnishment. I get paid next week and I afraid they have already started the proceedings. I have not received anything from my employment, only this letter from my court system.
