OK, I was checking on some info for a thread in here, and I came across this information on the FTC.gov website....didnt know if anyone else posted it here but I wanted to make sure we all got to see this! ftc.gov/opa/2008/12/civilpenalty.shtm For anyone who's thinking about suing a debt collector or already is, this is important news....

FTC amendments

Very nice info...Thanks skydiver! I passed this information on to my consumer attorney who is planning on filing a lawsuit against Palisades in my behalf. When does this go into effect?

the changes went into effect 30 days after this information was published in their register, so my guess is that it is in effect right now, since this information I linked came from December 2008. But I didnt see anyone post it here and never heard anything about it myself, so I knew it was not well-known yet.
