I get on an average 2 calls a day from somebody wanting to have my son call him back how important it is they start the call with his name he doesn't live with me and the other identifies where they are calling from which is said so fast I can't understand again asking my son to call them? Why are they bugging me and how do I get it to stop?

Most of the time a simple statement about the FDCPA and how they are violating your rights and must cease immediately is enough. You may wish to send them a cease and desist letter if they do not stop though.

On another note, if you were to buy a voice recorder and you were to record a conversation where they identify themselves as a debt collector along with information on what they are collecting, you son could receive up to $1,000 per violation recorded.....nice way to cash in on scum bags.

These people at Progressive Management Systems keep calling me on my Business Cell #. They did some extensive public record checking to find someone with my name was formerly related by marrigae to some dead beat they are looking for. I have asked them to stop calling, but keep getting the calls. They should have checked the records to see that there was a DIVORCE 30 years ago!

Communication by certified mail to require them to cease and desist will stop the calls! As a guest said prior the FDCPA requires those calls to stop! If they do not, a suit is an easy winner as the collector considers losing once in a while as part of the cost of doing business! I personally sued several collectors and won without having to record any conversations! They just will not fight, It costs too much! Get a lawyer and kick butt!
