That's a good question njbetty. I definitely hope someone comes along soon with the answer. I am trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can about fighting the ca's.

I went to the courthouse and filed mine a day or two before it was due. I just had to keep detailed notes of everything that had transpired from the time the debt was turned over to collections until the time the complaint was filed and the summons served.
If the CA went to all of the trouble of filing a complaint, they'd be morons not to validate the debt, so I'm curious to see if they do. But, yes, in my opinion, if you have details and notes of everything, then waiting closer to the end to see if you get a DV shouldn't hurt.
Someone advise differently if this isn't a good plan, as I am only answering from my own experience.

FYI it makes no difference but most attorneys defending would wait till the last minute just to not give opposing side any unfair advantage. Once an answer is filed the lawyers can proceed to either motion for summary judgment or discovery.
