Are pensions safe

I have a question, I know Social Security if free of garnishments and all but what about pensions? My mother receives my dad's pension(he passed away in 2007) and social security only. She lives with me and owns only a 10 year old car. If she gets sued by her creditors can they attach the pension she receives? We are in Florida if that makes a difference. Thank you very much for any answers!
