debt collection

My husband received a bill in the mail that says that this credit debt was purchased by a debt collector in 1999. This was a credit card that his ex-wife got in his name after they were divorced, also she has passed away. Since it is passed the statute of limitations by seven years should we just ignore it and just throw the letters away?

Send them an FOAD letter.....tell them to bug off and pound dirt. If it was obtained fraudulently he should be checking his credit.
