Got a call from 1-888-909-1990 fraud charges!!!!

My wife mother got a call from this number from Miss "Smith" it was on the answer machine.She said something about "fraud charges".She left her "name" and her number.Anybody know who this is??When they called they left no name of the company.This is about a old payday loan from 3.5 years ago.Who can I talk to in my state about stopping these people.BWW

then again, them mentioning fraud charges on someones answering machine is in itself a violation of the law(FDCPA)--third party disclosure of any info concerning this debt, whether that info is truthful or not, is a big no-no. Perhaps you should also consider suing them for violating the FDCPA as well as those complaints with the FTC and your state's AG...
