Ok so i have an account in collection with credit one the last i knew. It is in the amount of 7000 dollars. I recently recieved a letter from a company named Kramer and Frank trying to collect on it. I googled them and have seen absolute nightmare stories about them. They will freeze bank accounts and so on and garnish checks. Well i am actually in a financial state to settle with the collector now but they say Kramer and Frank will not settle for less then the amount owed. This is upsetting because the original debt is 5000 they have tacked on 2000 in fees. I dont know what i should do. I went to the bank and withdrew a large chunk of my money and im gonna keep it in my safe and remove direct deposit from my account. Advice please!

The original debt might be $5000 but interest continues to accrue. Have you been sued yet??? If so, you pay the court and legal fees. If they have a judgment they could garnish your wages.
I have not been sued that i know of havent received anything.
