FSS collection agency?
Date: Thu, 07/12/2007 - 18:04
I have received a recorded phone call left on my answering machine for the past three days. It starts as "if this is (my name) please stay on the line. then repeats. then a man's voice comes on and says if you are not this person, hang up. if you are, stay on the line. then he says something about FSS and this message is from a debt collector...you know the drill. then he says please call me back at 1 866 530 3819 to discuss an important business matter.
so of course i'm freaking out because im in payment plans with all of my debt so i have no idea what this is about. Just when i thought i was free from these calls. I pulled up my credit reports from all the agencies and there is no FSS listed. I also did a search online to find out information but there is nothing, it's almost as if they dont exist.I found one site where someone was getting harassed and when they called this place they wouldnt even give them the name of the company (i guess they got a different message, also the number was different on the caller id then it was on the message)
i also found one person who got this phone call, it was on a site called who called us.
Could this possibly be one of those weird bogus calls which leads to nothing? Has anyone else gotten this call? they keep calling me and it's making me nervous.

Hi Phacia
Thanks heavens you checked your credit report. There are many collectors who report debts that do not belong to the consumers at all. It often happens that collection agencies coerce people to pay off the debts that they do not owe. So, the bottom line of the whole matter is DO NOT WORRY, it may be one of their sleazy tactics to squeeze some money. You know what Phacia dealing with such people is easy when you are aware of the rules. You did a right thing by pulling out your report, it shows that you are aware of your rights and you can fight back. So cheer up. :D

A debt owed to the government (city, state,or federal) is not a consumer debt.A government debt is defined as taxes, overpayments,or child support. Since fdcpa is not applicable I would call them and find out what they want since some agencies can garnish without even seeing a court.

i just want to add, she didnt demand payment and she wasnt rude, in fact they had sent me a letter but at an old address, i gave them my correct address so i will expect a letter in the mail and i will be able to see what information they have. She seemed to expect me to get my letter first before trying to get me into a payment. i just told you i need to see this letter first before i take any actions, and she was ok with it.
