All of a sudden I got a letter from my job, which have been there a year, and in a state I have lived in for almost 2 years now, saying they have a court order to garnish my wages. I never got any summons or anything about this debt, and all of a sudden my wages were gone within 2weeks of getting this. They are taking 25 percent, can they do this without even notifing me at my address.

Garnishment order is the outcome of a judgment. A judgment can only be reached if you had a trial against you and the plaintiff has won the trial. Prior to a trial you should be notified through a summons.

If you haven't received a summons then you can challenge the judgment. But please talk to an attorney before taking such action. Inform your company regarding this.
