My situation is that I defaulted on an auto loan, so now the attorney has garnished my wages. I've paid out over $8000, but it looks like I haven't paid anything due to the interest, can they collect interest on this account?

I would do some solid checking into this one. The attorney does not garnish wages, the court does. The plaintiff needs to go to the court, file suit against you, win that lawsuit against you and get a judgment, and then get a court order to garnish your wages. Those things have to happen in that order for there to be a legal wage garnishment. Did you ever get served a summons for a lawsuit? Were you aware that they sued you? If not, you need to check with the court clerks office ASAP to get details about the case.
