GE charged off - NCI legal assigned???

I called GE Finance today and found out my account was charged off on JUly 26th, 2009 and informed that NCI Legal has been assigned the debt??? What does this exactly mean? GE stills holds the debit or NCI brought it?

assignment could mean NCI either purchased the debt or has been assigned to collect the debt. Either way, they are a third party debt collector subject tot he FDCPA. Research them, educate yourself on the FDCPA, and hold them to the law. They could end up paying you!
