Once you have started payment it will look kind of senseless to want to validate.You can send them a validation letter if you desire certified return receipt mail. Since you are already on a payment plan I would demand a cost breakdown of the debt as a minimum.

Payments do not negate your rights to a dv,but in the courts eyes it would show you agree to validity of debt. I would use it to show me how much is owed versus fees,interest,and principal.

Thank you for your responses. That is what I want to know - late fees, over limit fees, the actual purchases, etc. I'd like to know if she ever paid anything... I doubt it. I'd like to make an offer to settle this when I get my income tax return, possibly. I don't even know what the credit limit was on the card. Haven't seen even one statement from the original creditor. What a stupid MESS. Talk about learning life's lessons the hard way! Can't make enough stupid mistakes by myself.....
