Have you received anything in writing from this company yet? You need to send them a debt validation letter. If they can't validate the debt then they can't collect on it. If you haven't received anything in writing I would get their physical address and send it via certified mail. This way you have proof they received it. They then have 30 days to respond.

YES send them a D/V also find out what your state laws are for recording the phone calls. If you can record EVERY call that comes in from collectors.
On a side note with recording calls. If you get a call from a collector and they give you the BS "This can may be monitored or recorded for training reasons" You do NOT need to get their permission to record the call. You have already agreed to the call being recorded by staying on the phone, and they (the agent calling) are under the presumption that they are being recorded. SO RECORD THE CALLS!!!!!

Next time he calls, verify your address and inform him that he had 5 days from initial contact to mail you a dunning letter. Then end the call. When you recieve their letter ,respond with a DV request. If they continue to call and not send you a letter document the calls and file complaints with the FTC, the AG's in your state and theirs and the ACA if they are members. Sue them if they still continue to harass you. As the Count suggested, record if you can. From your original post, I'm catching the faintest hint of overshadowing.
