Back when I knew I could not keep up with the Min pmt on the CC cards I sent cert letter to all my creditors asking for hardship and to close all my accounts .. Told them all to reply in writing if the would accept what I could do ...

They do not reply to my request ..... Just kept sending me statements with late charges ..........and calling .. SO I sent them another cert letter .... They ignored that one too, just kept sending me statements with late charges now I owe more than when this started ... If they would not work with me they could have least told me they just ignored the letters
I hear all the time get it in writing well that did not work for me .
I think the laws should be changed to where it all is done in writing ...

So now they all are at collection agency .. and not the nice ones...

Thanks

Generally when we say you should get everything in writing is when you are dealing with the collection agencies. You probably should have attempted to talk to the credit card companies. Even if they are with the collectors, you should try calling the credit card people and explain your situation and see what (if anything) they are willing to do.

Your only other option if the CC won't work with you is to try and work with the collection agencies. Set up payment arrangements with them...do THIS in certified letters. Work up a budget you know you can keep up with. Make sure you have the right collectors by DVing them. Once you have proper validation (or you can check with the CCs and see which CA's they are with) then sent out your payment plan letters. Those that agree, get it in writing and stick to it! Those that don't, put them aside and focus on those that do agree. Every couple of months send the payment arrangement again....still certified mail. Keep copies of these letters with the receipts....this is so that if they do decide to sue you, you can show the judge that you made every attempt to do the right thing, but they would not work with you. You could also show the judge the other agreements you do have as well, to further prove you were doing the right thing.

Once you start paying off the CCs, you could start saving money and start offering settlement letters to those that wouldn't budge on the payment arrangements.

Whatever you do, don't negotiate with the collectors on the phone, only do so with the actual credit card companies. Don't let the CAs intimidate you! You can get over this.

It looks like the CC companies did repond to you as you asked.

"Told them all to reply in writing if the would accept what I could do ..."

They did not repond meaning they would not accept your offer.

Not trying to be an a##hole just pointing out they did what you asked.
