Yea I'm sure I have one or two payday loans still floating out there that I haven't paid yet. Do you know what companies they normally collect for. I have no problem paying people if they send a letter/statement so I know they are ligit. I'll continue to ignore them. Hopefully they will go away soon.

A friend got a similar phone call. Threatened to have CPS pick up her kids, send her to jail, etc. Have you heard anything since?

Threats like that are not only illegal, but completely over the top. So you'll know, they can't do anything like that. If this is BIG, Int., I don't even think they can sue. It would depend on your state laws, and the particulars of the case.

Give us some information, and we'll see what we can turn up.

Last time I heard about anything like this I helped a woman locate a attorney here in my state and she won a judgment against the collection agency for $147k due to punitive damages (mental anguish)

I dunno about our guest, but it would really chap my a$$ to just bide and ignore something like this. Filing complaints with the Attorney General and FTC only takes a moment, and may bring at least a feeling of having 'done something.' Documenting abuses is fairly easy, too. He might not be able to sue, but...

Given that this is apparently a UK-based operation, I might also be digging into ways to make them uncomfortable. The UK consulate springs to mind here, as do elected officials.

LOOK UP THESE NUMBER YOU WILL BE SURPRISED THE CALLS.. I DID EMAIL THE NY FBI IT IS ONLINE TO GET.. AGENT ALLAN CALLED BACK SAID IT IS A SCAM.SORRY I AM SCARED TO DEATH I AM A WIDOW HAVE MY GRANDDAUGHTER HERE WITH ME /AFRAID SHE WILL PICK UP THE PHONE AND WHAT HE WILL SAY..

agree with frog..if located in U.K,they do not fall under U.S. regulations,ftc etc,ignore as he stated..because Us does not get involved,unless Rico occurs I think. and unless you plan to travel abroad to persue the matter,ignore don't bother with threat and dont waste time,Frog adviceis best option

You can find out what city they are located in and complain to their constable. I think Parliament may have enacted similar laws to our own governing this type of activity.
