I recieved a phone call earlier today from a guy who I assume was a debt collector, I wasn't home but my wife called me and told me he called. The guy on the phone asked for me and when she told him I wasn't there he told her "this call will serve as a notice to him that he will be served papers in three hours"! She didn't tell him she who she was. He gave her a return phone number and a case number to give me before he ended the call. It's been it's been 2-1/2 hours since he called and I haven't called him back yet but I do plan to. The guy really didn't Identify himself or say what company he was representing, he said the company's name was "the firm". If I were really being served some type of legal papers wouldn't a law enforcement agency do it? Would the agency call me before coming out and tell me that they'll be at my house in three hours give me papers? I consider this call to be threating, is there anything I can do about it. Should I call him back and let him know that i'm recording the conversation as we speak?

do not talk to this cretin again.no process server calls ahead.he is nothing but a typical scamming piece of garbage.in fact use any numbers you have to report him to your local police.just know this cretin broke the law hand over fist, and will not be by.he just wanted to get a return call so he can threaten illegaly.report and ignore.do not call him back.
