My husband has an old credit card debt from HNBC and we got a call from them today saying that they had some important information regarding my husband and I and also stated that it was regarding our property and they stated the street name like it is regarding the property on 8th street. One thing we don't own this property yet we are buying it but we do not own it yet. So I called and the name that talked to me just said this is regarding my CLIENT and we are trying settle on this account for our CLIENT. I cut him off and said who is the client and what is the bill for. He finally told me HNBC and so I told him that I would get my husband to call him later since it is his bill (to get off of the phone) Why would they say it is regarding our property. The credit card is not even attached to our home and when my husband got the card we did not own the property. They also told me that if I did not settle this now that they would serve him papers on Friday. I wonder if they will since they are in California and we are in Kansas. Could they take our home when we do own it??? Sorry fir typos I always have them.

Just a way make it sound serious.

Relax, our judicial system doesn't work that fast.

Anyway, since its your husband's debt ask him to talk to the collector and get their physical address. Then slam them with a debt validation letter.

Did they say how much is the debt for?

Also by law they are supposed to send you a letter regarding the debt within 5 days, when your husband calls them have him verify the address so that they can send the letter....wait the five days and if no letter shows up then slam them with the DV letter and also note the first violation (not sending the letter in 5 days) and that you will not stand for that.
