How to stop calls for previous homeowners?
Date: Tue, 07/31/2007 - 16:41
I hope someone can help me with this situation we are facing - we purchased our house a shade over five years ago from folks who apparently have skipped out on at least one and probably a whole lot of bills. They never put through a forwarding order for their mail with the USPS and we are still receiving mail from collection agencies and the like for them. A quick trip to the Post Office has sorted all of that out.
Now we are still dealing with the phone calls - either they don't leave messages, or if they do, it is definitely looking for the previous owner of the house. My husband and I are getting pretty near fed up with the situation. I really do not want to have to pay to switch to a new phone number and go through the hassle of letting everyone know our new number if we don't have to do so.
Has anyone dealt with this situation and know how we can get the phone calls to STOP?
Thank you!
Vicki

Thanks Leah!
Hello Leah,
Thanks for the info. I guess I am just venting now because I know that I should send the letters but it's cash out of my pocket and time out of my life to send them - all for #$*(@#$ that has nothing to do with me.
*sigh* life goes on :-)
Oh how I can sympathize with you! We got our new number on July
Oh how I can sympathize with you! We got our new number on July 17th and can you guess, the first call we received was a collection agency looking for Christine! Well I said sorry wrong number and hung up only to have the number ring less than 30 seconds later. I asked for the number they were calling from and the name of the company and was told that since I wasn't Christine, it was none of my business. Low and behold the number did come up on my return call and I returned the call.
Everyday this week there has been a call for Christine! I got to the point I just tell them that this was a newly assigned number, I have the number they are calling from and if they continue I will give the number to the phone company and have them press charges. It has been 3 days and no more calls for Christine. It sure beats sending out letters, spending my money and my time.
We'll see what happens. Just an idea to save time and money.
