Wrong information

I had a collector call about a bill for a hospital visit that i dont remember taking place under my correct first name and ss# but had the wrong last name. when i asked the woman to send me the information for the bill so that i may review it she got real nasty and said "i dont see why i should send you the papers, youre NOT going to pay anyways." then continued to try to belittle me when i just tried to explain to her that i never said i would pay but i never said i wouldnt. i stayed completely coordial and explained that i dont not feel comfortable about taking any actions on something that may not be correct. what can i do about this? i dont mind paying for something that is actually mine, but they dont even have the right information about an incident i dont even think occurred and im offended that i was treated in such a manner for their mistakes. sure doesnt make me want to pay...

A perfect example of scam calling. These companies do not have proper information of the debt account, so they try these scare tactics to make innocent people pay. If they threaten you over the phone and keep on harassing you, file a case against them with your local police authorities.
