my mother is 78 years old. she has Dementia and some days/times are worse than others. in 07 her she told a neighbor she wanted some worker done on her house. he sent his father over. his father took out two unsecured loans in my mom's name. She is only on social security and never would have taken out loans that total more than her social security check. now a collection agency is calling her. i am doing a time line for the police because he also took 30,000 cash from her. Legally I can't seem to get anywhere. I don't want them to put a judgement on her house etc so what can we do?

How much is the total loan obtained in your mothers name and when was the last payment done? Have you checked whether the SOL on the debt has expired or not?

You also need to follow up with the police more and file for identity theft. You can forward copies of these things to the collection agency, if fraud was involved (which it sounds like it was) your mother is not responsible.
