I got a letter from H&H. However, I am have been making settlement offers to Citi for a year. I can settle for about 25%; however, I just got the letter from H&H Law Office. Can I still contact Citi and settle directly?

I actually just sent them a modified version of that letter in the linked post. I had it certified.

I was wondering though if I call up Citi again and negociate a lump sum settlement, will they be off my back? Also, is H&H considered a collection agency who bought the bad debt or are they actually working for Citi to sue me? My father is willing to loan me a lump sum to pay off a settlement; however, I don't know who to negociate with.

So if I call up Citi and they confirm that they sold the debt to H&H, do I now attempt to settle with them? Is there an incentive for H&H to settle? Did they buy the debt cheap or are they working for Citi in hopes of getting all of it back?

I settled with 3 accts with the original creditors....never got sent to lawyer or CA.....not sure how to deal with this one now that it is not Citi.

Any help would be appreciated.

So I can call Citibank and settle with them? Is that still possible or is H&H now my point of contact? Has anyone settled with H&H? I couldn't find anything other than stories about them taking people to court.

Soaplady, my citibank account is with Global. They said they sent my proposal to Citibank, who did not accept, but counter offered, of which I cannot pay that amount. Global said they need an answer by tomorrow, and that my account will be recalled by Citibank in the near future. I do see that Citibank checked my credit report in the past couple of days. If it is recalled without a settlement, do you know if there is a chance for a better offer? I am almost a year without sending in a payment. Also, my credit report says it was charged off, but I am still accruing interest and penalities, is this typical? Thanks.

does anyone ever get answers here that arent peppered with "maybe" or "likely" or "possible"? who has dealt with H&H? did they buy Citi's garbage or did Citi actually hire them? i dealt with them to lawsuit. now i have a default judgement against me for some tiny amount of $3K. they wouldn't settle for even $2500. they basically gum up the process and deserve to be executed. so, any psychos reading this, please kill everyone at that firm. thanks.
