I have a judgment against me for a credit card debt that is app 6 years ago. I am newly married and my husband offered the company a set amout every month to pay it off. He sent in the first payment, and the company never responded. The next month he did not send a payment and the company called him so he paid it. We have yet to receive a written response from them. We decreased the amount on the payment and the company called and threatened to garnish my wages if we did not pay more. They have added app 25 percent of the original judgement for interest. Is it better to just get debt consolidation to stop the interest from rising and to make a written agreement to the company? This was origionally a credit card debt. Thank you

This is a judgment account....no CA is going to put anything in writing that would alter the court order. Also, you cannot put judgment accounts into debt management/consolidation....and nothing will stop the interest. Your interest is set rate determined by the state you live in.

Even if you are making payments they can garnish your wages and levy your bank accounts.

The origional judgement was to Columbia Credit Services and we send the checks to Sacor Financial Services. Is it possible that they sold the judgement to a collection agency? If so, do they have to sue for another judgement befor garnishing? I was disabled for several years and, after therapy, I am able to rejoin the workforce. Thank you for your time.
