Ok,

I received a collection noticed from Enhanced Recovery Corporation, but when I called to pay it they said that it had been closed, and that I need it to call IDT CARMEL. I asked for a number and they told me to call 411. So, I called 411 and they had no info, so I looked them up in the internet and found nothing but complaints telling me that I should not deal with this people.
I know I owe HSBC (which was originally $250 in 2005, and now it's about $662, don't know how) and I just want to fix my credit.
Finally, I found this number and I called (Private, so they would not call me back, just in case), but somehow the guy knew my number and that scared me. I did not want to give him my social security number, and just asked him to verify the account number, but he said he didn't find it, and I hung up. Now, I did not give him my name either mostly because I did not want him to link my phone with the name and get calls to my cell, or what if I was calling the wrong number. Some of the stories you hear are very scary.

I really want to pay, but I want to make sure not to get myself trouble...

What is the RIGHT number?... How do I contact them? Should I pay the whole amount? And what is the best way to get rid of this?

Make sure you get validation first! I used to work for this company and quit as soon as I found out that they are not legit about everything. Also get them to settle the account. Most of the debt that they do collect is purchased for pennies on the dollar and they just try to make a profit on it. Go in there and low ball them with an amount that you are willing to pay. I would say to just negotiate them down. I do know that they can save you at least 50%. Honestly I would not pay them more than that...Good luck to you! Be sure to get everything you do in writing as well as a letter that you have satisfied your debt. If a compnay doesn't close the acct correctly it can get sent to another agency and you are stuck paying again since you most people don't get that letter...

This Michael Kapello called and spoke to my 12 year daughter and he asked her if she was 18 and she told him 12. He then called back and said he was a friend of mind and he wanted to send me flowers at work so she gave him my work number and cell. What a shock to me that it was that easy to get info out of her well good lesson learned. Then called me on my cell asking if I wanted the summons to go to my home or my work I told him that he couldn't serve me at work he got very angry and we would see and hung up. About 5 minutes later my work phone rang and the woman said she was from the San Bernardino Marshalls offfice and was checking to see if I was at work so she could come serve me.Wow was I a little freaked but on the hand they don't call you first they just come and serve you.Any way I haven't paid Brady and caruso anything I glad I have acess to the web and read all about this jerks. And the debt he was trying to collect on has already been paid off.

You should find out if your state is a one party or two party state and record those blatantly illegal phone calls. I would bet my last dollar that it was not the sheriff calling you but a person from that CA trying to scare you into calling them back and making an immediate payment. Then you can sue the pants off them and get them in serious trouble for impersonating the law.
