I just wanted to start by thanking and telling everyone who has provided free information. I recently had a $3,000 credit card charged off. Credigy purchased the debt and i sent them a letter of validation to make sure they own the debt. They responded with just basic info such as original creditor and amount of debt. I also asked for a copy of the original contract i signed and my payment history which they have failed to provide me with. Can someone please tell me if the debt has been properly validated or should i request the proper info again?

Thank you

There has been a lot of discussion in this forum about what IS proper validation. Debt validation really is subject to interpetation - in my opinion. If you google the FDCPA and search for "debt validation" you can read the federal law yourself. There has always been the question of what constitutes validation of a debt, well, I am quite certain the debtor will expect much more than the creditor is able or willing to provide. Keep checking back for more replies.
