I have previously posted here about the above. They are saying i owe $1,489.15 from an account through american web cash.com / moneytree. I paid $1026 already and closed my account because i moved. I sent 2 letters requesting debt validation. I just received a response saying "proof of debt will not be mailed to you because we mailed it on 3/16/06, the same date we got your notice." However, this was not a complete validation. Also, they re-sent a letter and said the original letter was dated 2/20/06. However, the letter i received is dated July 5, 2006 and simply marked through, and dated 2/20/06. Any advice would be much appreciated. I cannot find hardly any information on this form. Their number is 713-780-8900 or 866-780-8900. I want to take care of this, but i dont feel i owe $1429 and i dont want to be scammed into paying someone that i dont need to be paying, as i have done this before.
Thanks in advance

You must try to get in touch with the original company for which they are collecting? If the account has not been sold off, they will accept payments from you. Since the account has been sent to collections, the law office is allowed to add charges but it must be mentioned in the original contract. Also the rates must be within the state laws.
If the law office is saying that they have sent the letter earlier, verify the address where they sent it. It will verify whether they had the correct address in their system.
