this company, Integrated Portfolio Management, Inc., call me lin 2008 to pay a bill that we knew we had to pay, offered a buy off of 50% witch we took. now its 2010 and i have a new company calling me about this same account, telling me to pay off the other half of bill. now i cant even get in touch with this company to get the info even though i have a check that was cashed by them. could someone please post a contact number for this company that actually works.

Did you have an agreement in writing with them that the 50% would be a settlement in full? Do you have a PIF letter from them? If not, you're going to have a hard road ahead of you.

Who is the new company? You should get a letter from them within a week or so after they first called you. Send THAT company a debt validation letter. If they can't validate the debt, I wouldn't worry about it.

I know that IPM had their license revoked in CT. They may be out of business, which is why the contact numbers above don't work.

This has happened to me too... i have been looking for the number but I have no luck... I'm ready to get an attorney involved.
