This guy is a quack who calls and ask for information about people if he shouldn call you the bhest thing you can do is just hang up the phone. I called the number that showed up on my phone and they answered but when I started asking questions they hung up. Can you read between the lines. The best thing is not to talk to these people and give no info.

If this "Law Office" is not able to practice/sue in any other state than TX, what happens if I don't pay? Will my debt eventually be turned over to someone else that I will be able to settle with?

Looks like James West is answering his own inquries

I have been dealing with these people for about three months now. I had to change the arrangement I made with them due to financial changes and they got really nasty. They call me at work every few days to check up on me. Like my finances are going to change week to week. I have access to the funds to pay off this debt at the first of the year but that isn't good enough for them. They said they would sue if I didn't pay in full by the end of November. Funny thing is I called the credit card company themselves and they said as long as I continued to make thier minimum payment each month they would wait to settle until then. It sounds to me thier office is just out for themselves. I will not pay another dime through them but pay the credit card company directly.
Really?
The truth that is not mentioned here is.....
James West is a real Attorney...he is licensed in Texas ...in the event you are to be sued, they would retain an Attorney in the state in which you reside. or they can file wait is called an abstract judgement. The proof can be acquired from American Express or whoever their client is.
If you used the card/line of credit it can be proven!!!
Either way the real issue not discussed here is........
Is the debt valid?
Do you have the intentions of repaying the debt?
The reason the collection efforts are necessary is a large percentage of the indebted parties are not making any attempts to repay or communicate with the creditors they owe, many of which HAVE the capability, but do not, using the current economy as an excuse.
Because of the amount of debt they charge off they/the creditors, are able to show (on paper) huge losses, therefore justifying huge interest rates and penalties across their entire customer base, The other roughly 95% of us!!!
I for one want someone willing to call friends, neighbors, relatives to locate or make contact with these individuals who will not address their obligations.
The discussion of litigation should only be necessary if you do not full-fill your obligation to either repay or file bankruptcy and valid date the banks true bad debt volume.
If you simply don't have the ability to repay, it is understandable in todays economy, then file the formal Bankruptcy to discharge all debts.
Looking to websites like this to find a way to avoid your creditors is not what needs to be done, contact your creditor and make arrangements to pay if you can.

guess what?in texas not only must you be licensed but a bond must be posted as well.funny i can't find where this is the case.btw your horrible spelling and usage is painful to read as well as the fact that except for your first fact nothing you posted is true.so why don't you go back to the phones.

I use to work for Mr West, this is a real Law Firm and they can Litigate against you, also red flag your passport, check the patriot act for having out standing debts... if you owe the debt you should contact them and make min. payments on the debt...American Express will sue you if they can, depending on where you are in the country and what the collection laws are in that state... The debt isn't just going to go away and also it's going to ruin your credit..

Do I send debt validation letter, Or do I request a debt validation letter from the collection? And what does/should the letter contain so that I be certain that my debt with them is valid?

did you get a collection letter?if not there is one in this thread at the beginning.now for them to properly validate they must send something from the original creditor.like if it is a cc debt then statements will suffice,or something on the original creditors letterhead.don't except any old letter stating the amount you owe.i can type that up myself.again to validate they must present something from the original creditor.btw send the debt validation letter certified mail return receipt.

I started allowing this firm to take out payments. I now lost my job. They called me today saying if I pay something soon then I will not have interests tacked on. But said I qualify for hardship status. The debt was charged off in the first place and can't see how I owe these people anything. It seems that I've been paying $100.00 a month and my balance does not go down any? I have several different people contacting me weekly when I advised them to contact me later which one associate advised in a months time they would contact me. Some are apologetic but some are just down right trying to use scare tactics being I spoke to 3 different people in the last 3 weeks. This evolved from a chase account which was popping me with late charges due to chase not taking care of their part on getting my payments straight. I did not sign up for a chase account I signed up for a Washington Mutual Account, when Chase took over the account My Troubles started. Nothing about the processes that occurring seems to add up? How can a company charge interests charges on a payment that has been written off and should be a certain amount in the first place which was owed to the original creditor. If anyone can answer these questions legitimately the help would be appreciated. Considered Bankruptcy but hasn't been 7 yrs so far and I think that is the soonest one can refile. Unfamilar with the new bankruptcy laws even. Last thing I heard was any filing 7 or 13 one must pay back? West this question is for you!

funny how everyone thats on here is talking about how much of a horrible law firm and how nasty the collectors are---------seems to me like the one's thats being so negative are the ones that know they owe and dont want to own up to it and are obviously upset with themselves for getting in this mess----i used to work there, yes james a west is an acutal attorney--yes certain clients do sue ---yes even if you are in another state it is possible that your info could be passed to an atty to your area (all up to client)----get a life, pay your bills and you wont have to worry about people bugging you--its not harrassment if they call you at wrk unless you give a c &d---its not harrassment to contact neighbors or relatives----(check the fdcpa)------***COLLECTION AGENCIES DO NOT CHARGE INTEREST--THE CREDITOR DOES REGUARDLESS IF ITS CHARGED OFF OR NOT--THEY CAN DO IT!!!!!***** IF YOU DONT WANT TO PAY SEND A C & D , OR FILE BANKRUPT AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING CONTACTED ITS SIMPLE!!!

Now I am wondering if I can get out of paying that. I have no assets, my cars are in my husbands name we rent our house so that is not ours. What can they take.
