My debts are over a year old now. All have been charged off.
Who Do I pay the CA OR OC? I don't know who to trust. If I can still pay the OC how can they pull the debt from the CA and how do I know that the CA won't go ahead and bill me anyway?
If I settle with the CA how do I know he won't turn around and sell off the remainder of the debt to another JDB?
I won't to begin the process but I'm not sure which direction to go.
Any help. Thanks

Call the OC and find out who owns or is handling the debt now. Due to contracts with the CA, they are not likely to pull the account back without cause.

If you settle with the CA, you get the settlement in writing. No letter, no settlement. You then retain a copy of the paid check or paid instrument that paid it off. (A money order receipt is not proof of payment....you must have a paid copy from the MO company.)

...also called a Cashiers Check. Then if there are any questions or need proof of payment, the bank can verify that the check was cashed by the CA. Never, ever pay with a personal check displaying yopur account number !
