I received a letter a few weeks ago from a Vision Financial which stated their client, CompuCredit had bought a debt from them in the amt. of $132. One of the Credit bureaus (from an older report) shows this debt pd in full per the company (unsecured cc) in 2003, past the SOL in Texas anyway, and another Credit bureau ( a more recent report but still a diff cb) shows it was charged off.
So since I received that after I found this great site, I sent them the validation letter by cert'd mail w/sign req'd.
Got the green card back the other day with a signature.
Yesterday I received a privacy blah blah form letter from Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC ..no info on who they are, what debt my privacy is being protected, etc. just their so called acct #.
Come to find out just now researching that Jefferson Cap. is a Minn. based subsiderary of CompuCredit.
I guess they think that this privacy letter was an answer to my Val. letter.
Since it is Sol, whether they think it was pd or not, and if i don't rec. any validation in the 30 days, then I can consider this matter "closed" and can dispute it? i am sure they bought in one of the "bundles" of old debts and tried anyway don't you? thanks

I dealt with Jefferson Capital. They tried to purchase a 10 yr old debt from NCO and get me to sign up for some type of credit card to put it on. I DV'd Jefferson Capital and less than a week later got a letter saying they closed their account and sent the account back to NCO.

thx golden will do then
the original vald. letter i sent was from this sites link adjusted of course for my needs. but not sure what notice you are referring to?
since i did not receive a letter from them stating i owed anyone/amt., but just their own acct. number and privacy act blah blah, if i send a validation letter specifically to jefferson, does this mean i am "owning" the debt? validating the debt on my end in other words?
this collection debt is showing on my newest cr two times-once by jefferson and another time by another ca? cit bank? never heard of it. same info same amt figured cit sold to jefferson.
if i dispute both w/the ca mentioned above, do i mention the other ca from the past, that shows it was in good standing and paid off in 2003-and sol to boot?
it seems this has been reaged and very illegal. pleaes be as specific as possible as to what i should say to the ca. i do not have any $$ or agency for a lawyer so the paper trail is about my only recourse.
thanks
