What is judgement by consent?

How was it used? It sounds like it means allowing a judgement almost like pleading guilty but on a civil level.

Instead of continuing with litigation, the respondent agrees to a judgment.

But if I come to an arrangment, I can get them to drop the suit, thus avoiding a judgment. Is that right?

I think they are formulating your agreement into a judgment. Breech of said agreement would probably allow them to pursue garnishment.

i just received a letter that says that too, in the "is this legal?" thread... i think it's that they are turning your agreement into a judgement against you... only my problem is that i was not notified of a trial date. i'm not signing it yet until i'm sure it can't come back against me down the road but i'm sticking with my agreement that i made verbally...
