Stipulation for judgement upon default

Can anybody tell me what this is for/means? The CA attorney's office had me sign one of these after I agreed to settle the account with them. They said it's so that they can file it with the court and have the case dismissed. I signed and returned it to them but the case (according the the court clerk) ended up with a default judgement for the plaintiff for the full amount of claim. Even though they have been paid. Did I get tricked or something?

Sounds like you got tricked to me. By you agreeing to them the debt is yours and by signing your name, You probably agreed to a default judgment. This way if you ever go back on your word, all they have to do is get a court order to garnish your wages or bank account.
If it was just dismissed from court on an agreement, it would be harder for them to start up the case again.

Is there any legal way to fix this? Perhaps a motion to vacate default judgement or any other recourse I should take here? I have a letter stating the the account has been settled in full from the CA attorney's.
