The jusgment was entered in Sept, nothing has happened yet to my bank account. After it was entered I received a letter from the creditors telling me they obtained a judgment and they would like to know what income I have that is exempt. I don't have any exempt income, such as social security. The only money I make is from doing some computer work for someone at thier home, somewhere around 200 week. I don't mind paying them a little at at time, what should my next step be?

ONe other question on my mind, I have been hearing that a sherrif can go to your home and take your property out, how do they know what to take if everything is owned by the other person living there.

Try to work out a payment plan with them before they start taking money of our your bank account or garnishing your wages. If they sent you a from from the court requesting to list your assets and such then you need to fill it out.

I would wait until you hear from them. Usually in cases of judgments the creditor can ask for disclosure of your assets and property but it usually has be done in the form of a subpoena from the court. If you do not fill it out or go to the court you can be held in contempt. However that does not appear to be the case here.

Just wait until you hear them or you can call them to see if they received your letter.

It has been over 2 weeks now and I'm just nervous about what they are going to do, like I previously posted, I don't get income from any payroll dept, I get paid from an individual, but I do have a checking account.

Is the court suppose to send you a letter tellig you that they entered a judgment? I know they did from the court's website and from their letter.

Thanks everyone for all your help and advice. I am so lost and depressed over this. This was a debt I had when I was younger and not responsible. I worry about my family and that they are not affected by this. I feel I have no other way out.
Thanks for listening

I've been harrased by a debt collector for a very long time. They told me they have a judgement against me when i called today. Now my job received a subpeona against me to garnish my checks. How do i know if it's real. It is not signed by a judge. I do not know if its an oficial document. It's just signed by a lawyer.
