I had a debt. I paid it. All they have sent me is a letter stating the debt was paid in full. I have been requesting a copy of Satisfaction of Judgement that should have been filed in the court. After repeated phone calls and put offs I am still waiting for a copy of a document that belongs to me.
I have checked with the courts everyday . Nothing has been sent to them. How do i get them to send me a copy of what they supposedly sent to the court

For all intents and purposes, the PIF letter is your evidence that you don't owe anymore. So you don't really need to have a copy of the satisfaction.

Also, I'm not sure that they're required to give you a copy after they file it. But if you wanted a copy, you would obtain it from the clerk of the court.

Getting them to file the release is the hard part. I'm not sure how you compel them to file it. I looked thru my IL laws (both code of civil procedure and the DFI rules & regulations)... I don't see any law that prescribe penalties for their failure to release. You might be able file a motion to see the judge, go in and show him the PIF letter and tell him they're refusing to file the release ... he might issue a release based on those merits.

Also, I'm sure they had an attorney representing them ... it would be unethical for the attorney to refuse to file a release. If they absolutely refuse, you might file a complaint against the attorney with the bar.
