I was advised by our mediators when I went to court that a Stipulation to Judgment is kept private between me and the party suing - ie it won't appear on my credit. The court docket currently only shows the mediation date that was held in August. My payment plan starts this month...when the paper work is returned to the law office and the file it with the court house...will the case docket that is viewable by anyone show the amount we stipulated to or will it be kept private?

What state are you in please as things/codes & statutues do differ state from state.

I only know in general, for a while all court doc in CA were viewable but now there is a fee to view court related documents online, and though it is public access, I cannot say about going to the county records office and viewing them. I mean I do not know what the fee is but in CA, unless in involves minors, it is public access, if you wanna pay the fee. I know I can go to my county clerks office and search the micro films and pay for copies of what I want.....

Court files are public records and, to my knowledge, are openly available to the public unless sealed by court order. Albeit, that usually entails a person physically going to the courthouse to request to view the docket.

In your matter, since you agreed to a payment stipulation, the case may reflect a status of "dismissed by stipulation" or "dismissed with leave to reinstate." In that event, since a judgment was not actually entered, it would not be reported on your credit report as a judgment. I think that is what your mediator meant -- that it won't go on your credit report. But I think if someone wanted to view your stipulation, that would still be publicly available.
