If it is a true, guaranteed thing, and one time only, and part of a settlement deal that would say I was Paid in Full, then I'd pay it. Just to not have the hassle anymore.
But who wants to bet that if one company starts charging, they all will ...
And after everyone is used to paying $10, it will go up to $20, then $35, then $50 ... and then servicing fees, etc.
The writing is on the wall.
Now, if they charge $10 per page or something like that for ALL documents, that's kinda different. Some companies charge for each and every piece of paper that goes out of their office, regardless of what it is.

If you have a copy of their settlement offer and a copy of the check that was sent and cashed then you are set. You won't need the PIF letter although I think they should send you one at no charge. Paying $10 for is is silly.
