Landlord lied about Abstract of Judgement

Hi everyone. First time posting. My wife and I have been working on our credit the past couple years and we have a judgement from a broken lease back in May of 09 (caused by losing my job). Anyways we took responsibility and went through the small claims court with the landlord. A couple things that I am just realizing now about how everything was handled.

1. The total amount they said we owed was around $8600, but they sued and won for $10,000. We are paying them back monthly since then for the $8600.

2. After the judgement the landlord said we need to setup a payment plan before they do an abstract of judgement. We got a plan setup, but when I went back to look at a copy of the abstract of judgement, they had already submitted it and had it filed a month before they even talked to us about a payment plan.

Basically they flat out lied about the second issue and I believe they took advantage of the first issue. We are really wanting to get this judgement off, and we are willing to pay it off. But is there anything that can be done about them lying about the abstract of judgement or suing us for more than we are paying back?

Like I said we don't mind paying back our debts, but over the last couple years getting our credit better, we have learned not to be pushed around by debt collectors. Any help or opinions is appreciated. Thanks!
