I need some good advise!
These guys have been harassing my family, friends, co-workers and myself over some debt that I know I owe. To make a long story short....I was victim to the instant hike in interest, even though I was paying over and trying to pay all debt off, without any opinion. I tried contacting my debt owners to work with them and they told me there was nothing they could do with me at that time.
It's been about a year now and I've been getting the multiple phone calls to collect. They finally got ahold of me, AT WORK which I had previously told them not to contact me there, and laid into me. After being belittled and demanded of all my personal information I asked to speak to the this actual Joe guy. I was told he wasn't available. I asked for him to contact me to validate this claim, since there are many horrible collection agencies out there, and was told that wouldn't happen right away. I asked for him to contact me and something in writing and still nothing but the mean people calling at all hours.
I've been shopping around for consolidation companies to work out a payment I can afford but no luck so far.
Well this morning I was served a summons for 1 part of the debt that they said they had from BofA. I've never been in this position and I'm not sure where to go from here. Can you give me any advice on what to do? I'm working full time, in school full time and don't spend money on anything but basic needs otherwise I would have just paid it. Help please?! I don't want to have to contact this place as I refuse to be treated like that.
