I have an HSBC account that went into collections since I was unable to work from an injury. Leading Edge Recovery Solutions became the CA and sent me letters and called numerous times and left a message with the name Harvey Liebowitz. So, I got in touch with them in late-May and made an agreement with one of their agents. We agreed to a settlement of 80% and would pay this off in two monthly installments in May and June, which I paid in full. The other day the calls started up again and I received a nasty letter saying "We have done everything in our power to cooperate with you in the satisfaction of your outstanding balance. If you fail to respond to this notice, I will assume that you do not wish to pay this account." They are demanding the remaining amount that is the difference of the settlement and full balance!!!

Can they do this-make an agreement on a settlement and then once that's paid, demand the remaining amount? This is very frustrating and I am restraining myself from calling them up and saying a few choice words. Please help.
