Just got a letter stating legal action will be taken \and will be sent to a court of law if I do not pay. What should I do? I know I don't have the money to pay. and I dont even know who the creditor is. I just faxed them a debt validation letter what is the next step?

great job with the debt validation letter, Now i would suggest that you wait because if you dont know what its even about or how old the debt is, there is not point in doing anything till you figure this out. do you have any idea as to what this is? or how old the debt is? while you wait check out your states statute of limitations if the debt is older then that send them a letter stating that you are not claiming this debt yet, you know that the sol has expired. and go from there let us know! but be sure to not admit to this debt it may not be yours! and if it is you have just now restarted the sol if you admitted to the debt.
