internet pay day loans

Hi I have three internet payday loans and also Legal Mediation practice is calling me and threatening me that they will take legal action at my home today etc. I called my family Lawyer and he told me basically to pay what I can ... I payed them 240.00 just the other day and they said it was not enough I have to ask all my family and friends for the rest. they say I owe 1700.00 and they would settle for 1350.00 . I sent in the 240.00 not even having any information on them because I FREAKED out , I have a 4yr old son and my husband lost his job, at the time of the default and I also lost mine 2 weeks later after the default , I have written a bad check nor bounced a check , or ever defaluted on a loan .. and these guys are saying that this is like writting a bad check since I gave them account info... I did close my account due to a virus I had on a computer and someoone was hacking into my bank account , at that time my bank notified me and advised I closed the account .. all this happaaned during the time my next payment would be coming up .. Please help these people are brutual , and Iam willing to make thesde payments since I just payed 240.00
