questions about a number that called my work and parents home

My mom sent me a text message the other day saying that some Regina Ward from a company called Landmark called my work and talked to my mom about me saying that I was goin to be served papers if I did not call that number back. So I called back twice. Nobody answered either time so I left messages for them. Havent heard anything back from them. Are they even legally able to talk to my mother about this if I dont even live with my parents and im over 18? And are they even legal to call my parents home or my place of work (especially when I dont even know how they got my parents phone number)? Its a little ridiculous that its so important that im supposed to call them back but they dont ever answer. Sounds like a scam to me. What do you think?
