lvnv and settlement

LVNV is on my credit report for an HSBC account. Resurgent sent me a letter wanting to settle my 650 to 250 on behalf of LVNV. I have read so much on here about them, but should I settle and just keep the letter so they cant sell the rest to someone else?
I'm sure someone with more knowledge of them will answer you but
I'm sure someone with more knowledge of them will answer you but make sure you get it in writting that they will consider the debt settled and will not resell it. I'm sure there is a letter on this site that will give you the correct wording or another member will chime in.
I am dealing with them too but so far they have just move it around to another of their agencies each time I ask for validation.
