Mann Bracken

I have an old debt with Discover card that just went to court and a judgment was entered. The firm handling the cass was weltman weinburg ries. This all happened about 3 months ago. Yesterday I recieved a letter from Mann Bracken stating that they are trying to collect on the Discover account now. What is going on?
Did the letter from Mann Bracken mention anything of the judgmen
Did the letter from Mann Bracken mention anything of the judgment money? If it is so I think that Weltman brought out the judgment for Discover and after getting the judgment against you, Discover authorized Mann Bracken to collect the judgment amount.
Now, if they mentioned nothing about the judgment money in the letter, you need not worry because they can do nothing to recover the debt, because there is already a judgment on the account. However, you can send them a copy of the judgment order if you want.

There was no mention of the judgement and the amount they are looking for is less then the actual judgement amount.
Since there is already a judgment against you by Weltman and Wei
Since there is already a judgment against you by Weltman and Weinburg, you are responsible for paying the judgment amount to Weltman and Weinburg or to Discover card (if Discover has not sold the account to Weltman). Now, if you have received a dunning letter from Mann Bracken, I think you should send them a copy of the judgment and ask them to validate the debt.

Check your court papers. W W & R do both collections themselves and legal services for other collectors. The same with Mann Bracken. The paperwork will say that the Plaintiff is W W & R on behalf of and name of collector, if they are merely representing an interested 3rd party.
If the paperwork does not say "on behalf of Mann Bracken" or words to that effect, then send them a Cease & Desist letter, via Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. There is no need to validate, it is obviously not theirs to collect. Unless - that dunning letter states that the Creditor they are collecting for is W W & R.

Hmmmm, well if you already have a judgment, I would send MB a copy of it and tell them to get lost (Cease & Desist).
Sorry for the confusion on WWR, I got a bit confused by the posts above me. I assume you are in the process of satisfying the judgment? Don't worry, if MB try to take you to court they will be wasting their money and their time as there is already a judgment in place. I think MB only hires the dirtiest collectors that no other agency (except perhaps LVNV) would stoop so low to hire.... They are the kings of stupid and illegal tactics, I can't imagine anyone worse than they.

Thanks Chrys. I would like to satisfy my judgement but I am unaware of the process. I have not beeen contacted by WWR or Discover. Should I send them something trying to work out a payment plan. I have a kid on the way so I dont have the money to make huge payments or pay it all at once.

your best bet would be to contact them in my opinion--it shows that you are willing to get this resolved. If you contact them and express your willingness to work with them, they may be more likely to accept a payment plan that you can afford. Keep in mind that in PA they cannot garnish your wages for consumer debts, so if they try to threaten you with wage garnishment, they are breaking the law.
OK, as far as mann bracken, I would not send them a copy of the judgment, personally, at this time, as it gives them information they are not entitled to. I would instead send them a certified devt validation request letter. If nothing else, it will give you evidence should you decide to sue them for their violations. Mann Bracken is not known for following the law....and since they are initiating this harassment against you, I would let them pay me the money they will owe me instead of tell them to get lost. Thats just me thought, I tend to smell blood in the water when it comes to junk debt buyers...
