I need advise...i received a summons to appear in court in about three weeks naming Mann Bracken as the Plaintiff. This is related to a debt in the amount of $13k which I originally had with Household Finance in Minnesota in 2005. I guess Mann Bracken bought the debt from Household?

About two weeks after I received the summons, I received a letter from Mann Bracken asking if I was interested in a settlement in lieu of any further litigation. I have not contacted them yet. I moved to Tennessee about 3 years ago so I'm guessing they had trouble locating me and that's why it took so long for anyone to contact me.

What are my options? I'd appreciate any advise.

Thanks.

Negotiate for a settlement or let them sue you are pretty much your only options.

MB are untrustworthy so make sure you get everything in writing first. Do not pay a dime without something in writing. Also, NEVER give them your bank info. Pay by money order or prepaid gift card.
