CAN it happen? Technically, yes and no.....

I have seen a CA go after the wrong bank account before--and they did get money. So, CAN it happen? yes, it can. Is it SUPPOSED to happen? no. Even if you live in a community property state, if the debts were his before you were married, then they are not your responsibility and the CA is not legally able to go after your bank accounts. As stated, if you have a joint account, they could go after that. The laws are a bit different from state to state....but your bank accounts are off-limits, so if a CA threatens it or tries to go after them, you need to fight back.
