What is the best way for me to end regular calls from MCM about an outstanding MCI bill that my husband never incurred? AND does not show up on our credit report (and never has).
They have sent letters which give no detail other than the amount owed.
Since my husband has a common name, we think they have confused him with someone else or have made some other error.
The callers are aggressive and rude and are causing emotional duress to my husband.
Prior postings say "stay off the phone" which we try to do as soon as we know it is them and others say their mail is returned when trying to send a validation letter.
What should we do?
Will the calls eventually stop if we keep hanging up? How long will this go on for?? Should we even care about the calls, since our credit remains excellent?
Please help another MCM victim.

You have the right to ask for this debt to be validated in writing. The next time they call, state politely but firmly that you are disputing the debt and ask for an address to send a debt validation request. You can also tell them they are to cease all verbal communication with you and only communicate via mail.
