I had an MRI in September. My insurance paid all but $300 of the bill. The MRI facility sent a bill and we made a small payment. Then every month they would send a bill with the new balance and we would send another small payment. Yesterday I got a call from a very rude CA saying that if I didn't pay the remaining balance of $135 immedietly, she would report it to the CRA's. I have never gotten anything in the mail from anyone saying this had been sent to collections. And why would they send it to a collection agency if I was paying it?

probably because you didn't have an arrangement set up with them. So they didn't know when they would get their money or even how much.

Now that the collection agency has contacted you, you should get a letter in the mail from them in 5 business days. And if you pay the bill in full within 30 days it shouldn't show up on your CR. But be careful, sometimes with medical debt they can add on interest, it all depends on the company. I know with my hosp. bill that is in collections they are adding on interest because the hosp told them to.

You could try to contact the MRI billing to set up an arrangement and see if they can pull the account back from the CA. But they probably won't. Good luck!
