Welcome to the Community :D From what I can find, it appears they are also known as Direct Merchants Bank, and possibly HSBC. Did you have accounts with any of these?
How long ago did you received the letter from LVNV? You need to send a request for debt validation and send it certified, return receipt requested.
Also use the search feature, located under the chat live , at the top of the screen for LVNV. There are too many posts to give links about them. They are a bottom feeder collection company who will stop at nothing to get you to pay, even if it is not your debt. This is why you need to make sure they have the right person.
When talking with them, make notes of everthing said, or record if it is legal in your state. Also, keep copies of everything in case you need it later..Good luck and feel free to ask questions..karen

I received a similar letter from American Debt pertaining to an alledged account I have with Direct Merchants/Metris for $5000. This is totally bogus! I have never had or applied for a card. I have to go to court over this Friday and I don't have a clue how to approach it. Any suggestions??
