Last June 2008 I received a letter from Midland stating I owe for verizon wirless account I once had in 2004. I sent them a validation letter return receipt requested on July 1, 2008. Today on May 9, 2009 i received a letter from midland stating the amount the say I owe with one copy of one bill from Verizon wireless. is this a legitimate validation? Also, if i do owe this amount in about 60 to 90 days i will have the money assuming they don't get a judgement against me if they were to somehow get a judgement against me it would hold up everything maybe making it impossible to get the money. This was not a summons from them it was a letter stating to pay immediiately. Any advice?
That is not adequate validation unless it was the last statement
That is not adequate validation unless it was the last statement from Verizon. Send them another letter stating that this is not adequate validation and that you need proof that you openned the account, Verizon keeps the contracts so one should be obtainable.
What state do you live in?
When was the last payment to Verizon made?
Have you checked the SOL on this debt?
